Field to Cottage Nursery is a small, chemical-free greenhouse and nursery operation in northern Wake County, NC that specializes in native plants, heirloom flowers and vegetables, & medicinal and culinary herbs.
Currently we are focusing most of our efforts on keeping our inventory stocked with NC native wildflowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees. We encourage homeowners to stretch their sense of aesthetics in order to embrace the sort of wilder forms of landscaping that our native flora and fauna need if they are going to survive in this rapidly-developing area of the state.
During the pandemic, we are scheduling pick-ups at the nursery so that customers do not overlap. The nursery is open for pick-ups from March through May, and from October through January. You schedule your pick-up date, time, and location when you check out with the online ordering system. Payment is still made when you come to get your plants. We prefer cash or checks.
In spring and fall, we also sell plants at our roadside stand on King Lawrence and Trinity Roads in Raleigh/Cary. We ask that customers maintain a safe distance from one another at the roadside stand. We accept cash, checks, Venmo, and Paypal at the stand.
If you are a new customer, please make sure to read the FAQ page before making an order.

In general, the best way to contact us is through email; please be patient as we're often outdoors and may not see your email immediately.

NC Nursery License #050-8304

I saw a man,
An old Cilician, who occupied
An acre or two of land that no one wanted,
A patch not worth the ploughing, unrewarding
For flocks, unfit for vineyards; he however
By planting here and there among the scrub
Cabbages or white lilies and verbena
And flimsy poppies, fancied himself a king
In wealth, and coming home late in the evening
Loaded his board with unbought delicacies.
